Besafe is a Norwegian brand founded in 1919. The family business, which produced horse saddles and car interior accessories, began manufacturing car seats in 1963. Today, the company is still owned by the founding Torgersen family. Over the years, Besafe has developed car seats that are safe and feature the latest technology, while keeping pace with the times.

The safety culture in Scandinavian countries is very different from ours in France. These countries make it a point of honour to develop and adapt new driving and road safety habits in order to reduce the number of accidents on the roads, and therefore the number of people injured and killed each year. The latest European recommendations are based on Scandinavian child safety practices.

History of the Besafe brand

Besafe is one of the pioneers in the manufacture of rear-facing car seats. The brand makes it a point of honour to offer children and parents safe and comfortable products that guarantee perfect safety. Besafe currently markets car seats for all age groups up to 10 years, baby carriers, pregnancy belts and accessories to make car journeys easier and safer for children.

Since 1963, society and regulations have changed considerably. Since the company was founded, Besafe's objective has always remained the same: to design products that will protect children perfectly.

- 1960: Development of their first car seat begins.

-1988: Besafe is the first brand to develop a pregnancy belt to protect future babies during car journeys.

- 1998: Besafe stops producing booster cushions, convinced that high-back booster seats offer better safety for children.

- 2008: To avoid any risk of misuse, BeSafe is one of the first brands to stop using armrests on booster seats.

- 2017: iZi Flex FIX is the first high-back booster seat on the market to be approved in accordance with UN R129 regulations. The seat wins the innovation award at Kind & Jugend the same year.

- 2019 : Several of Besafe's car seats are recommended by the German Back Health Association (Aktion Gesunder Rücken, AGR) as offering the best ergonomics and back support for babies.

All children rear-facing

Besafe produced its first rear-facing car seat in 1989, stating that children should be facing away from the road in the car for as long as possible. At the time, the brand was heavily criticised. Today, it is recognised that rear-facing is 5 times safer than forward-facing. BeSafe is proud of its early commitment to children.
