Whether you're a first-time parent or not, choosing the right car seat for your child is no easy task. You've undoubtedly found yourself faced with a multitude of car seats of different shapes and sizes, and the terms used in the world of car seats are still new to you, which doesn't help your situation at all... One thing's for sure: you can't wait to be able to take your little one for a ride in the car without fear.
As soon as he's born, your baby will need to be transported by car, if only to carry out his post-birth check-up - in other words, his first administrative formalities! When traveling by car, it is now compulsory to transport your baby in a car seat adapted to his age, weight and morphology.
We have a range of back-to-the-road car seats for babies and toddlers from leading brands, complete enough to meet your needs. Among the best-known brands are Klippan, Axkid, Avionaut, Britax Römer, Besafe, Lionelo and Renolux car seats.
At Babylor, you'll find only approved, crash-tested car seats. We work with a handful of European brands renowned for their expertise. Our aim is to offer young parents car seats of impeccable quality, adapted to their little one's morphology.
Remember, it's not a luxury to make sure your baby travels safely. It's important to remember that safety comes first.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, we advise you to think carefully about your needs before buying your car seat online. First of all, we'd like to remind you of a few basic facts: there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all car seat. Car seats are classified according to your child's weight or height.
At Babylor, you'll find our car seats classified by group, in other words, by the child's weight. Here's the list of car seat groups:
First of all, there are many different types. So we're going to talk about the different fastenings you'll find on Babylor: Isofix, Top tether and strut, Tether straps, Isofix base.
This is an extremely safe way of securing your child's back-to-the-road car seat. It is impossible for the seat to be “loose”, as the Isofix system is binary, i.e. the seat is or is not secured. The maximum weight supported by this system is 33kg, including the weight of the car seat and the child. For seats over 33kg, the Isofix system must be assisted by the seatbelt.
It's the ideal system for parents who want to remove and reinstall their car seat quickly and effortlessly. Cars manufactured from 2011 onwards are required to have two metal Isofix hooks between the seat and backrest. Two clamp arms are provided on the seat to secure it to the hooks. As you can see, Isofix fastening gives you comfort and safety.
A more recent version that combines the Isofix system with a strut or Top Tether. With the strut, the car seat is secured both from the rear (Isofix system) and from the front, preventing it from turning over or tipping forward during heavy braking. With Top Tether, the seat is secured both at the bottom (Isofix system) and at the top of the backrest using straps. Ideal if the seat doesn't change cars very often.
This attachment system is reserved for rear-facing car seats only. It is very similar to the Top Tether attachment system, except that the straps are no longer attached to the back of the car seat, but to the passenger seat.
Car seat bases attach your car seat to the seat of your vehicle. Once the base is installed, you simply clip and unclip the car seat from the base when you decide to go for a ride. The Isofix base is the ideal accessory if you want to move your car seat or change vehicles. You'll save time and energy when it comes to getting your child in and out of the car. A certain brand of base will fit several models of the same brand of car seat.
